REFLECTION

Experience
When I first started this class, I honestly don't know anything about typography. It was totally new to me. So that is why I am very worried about this class and as time goes on I found out that typography is very important. Back when I haven't studied typography I thought that typography was just making the texts looks nice to be used, I thought making font was just drawing it out. And so because of this class, I learned a lot, everything has meaning to it and the process of making something simple is actually very hard and long. Although I am not very good at this class and almost gave up, I won't forget how this class is very important for my design career. Sir Vinod and Sir Shamsul also often told us to not chase grades, it's the process that matters. That really helped me. Especially their honest and straight feedbacks, I think their style of feedbacks are really encouraging although sometimes they may sound scary I do understand that is for our sake.

Observation
While sketching designs for exercises and projects, I am actually quite shocked at how I could think of a lot of ideas, especially for the final project. This class made me actually do some research before just randomly sketching out what is on my mind. For example, the type expression project. Before randomly sketching the ideas, I would search for the meaning behind the words so that I could actually have a good sketch for them which I am satisfied with.

Findings
Before, I would always have this thought of designing just for myself, "this is what I want and how I want it to be" I was pretty ignorant, ignoring how people would look at my design. Because of this class, I learned that we design for people to understand not for us to understand so there are many factors to look at, such as hierarchy. We don't want people to read our text in the wrong way. Also, I'm glad that this class changed my way of taking feedbacks, opinions, and criticisms. Because I often ignore people that give me opinions even though they are good. Now I accept them and will continue to grow.
