Module Information Booklet
After all the data we have collected it is time to focus on our final project, I am glad that the deadline is extended and so we have more time to finish our final outcome. We all agreed to make the mask, tote bags, and poster, but before that, we need approval from our lecturer first. So, we worked on our slides, we put our initial ideas first and since there are 6 ideas, we each take our own part and made a rationale for it.
After the approval, we had a consultation with Sir Asrizal, then we decided to focus on the mask and tote bags first since it is our main outcome. So we were divided into 2 groups, I will be making the bag design along with Sajiya and Cynthia. While, Caitlyn, Allyssa, and Masrya will be taking over the mask. We will all design based on the Four Gentlemen (Plum Blossom, Chrysanthemum, Bamboo, and Orchid).

Since we each have our designs ready we asked for another consultation regarding our designs and after discussion with my group members, we found out that what we have been doing is just replicating the flowers and that is not what design really is, so we need to come up with another one. And, they are interested in the patterns I made for the chrysanthemum bag so I was assigned to make 4 new mandalas for each flower. We also discussed and decided our bag's material would be organza fabric and the flowers would be embroidery-like.

We used the mandala for our new bag design, I decided to use what Sajiya made instead of making a new one.

In the end, we used the second orchid design to match the other bags, and finally, we can move on to the poster design. Again, we divided works, I, Sajiya, Caitlyn, and Cynthia will be part of the designing process while Allyssa and Marsya will be searching for information that could help explain the Four Gentlemen. At first, we wanted to add poems for each of the flowers, but then we thought that by using the poems people won't understand and that's not our goal so we changed it into the symbolism of each of the flowers.
figure 1.8 Plum Blossom Poster Designs
These were my designs at first, I wasn't able to join the meeting with them to discuss the poster so they informed me that they liked the first design and suggest me to change the clouds to the one in design number 3. After fixing it, Caitlyn gave a new idea of using the phases of the moon which indicates the seasons of the flowers and I got the crescent moon because Plum Blossom is in the winter season.

I changed the plum into no branches because I was worried that it clashes with the background of our poster. Then we finalized our slides and had a consultation with Sir Asrizal, sadly we needed to fix some designs. We also changed the layout for our poster from portrait to landscape because we want more space to put new information.

FEEDBACK
Week 7
- The items must show a message that we want to convey about the Revival of Hanfu.
- Indicate whether these items enhance the Hanfu revival message that we aim to deliver to the audience.
Week 8
- Use patterns that are prior to knowledge of the Hanfu culture.
- The poster idea can be used to explain the ‘Four Gentlemen’ patterns and talk about their symbolism. Can be utilized to spread and express a message to the people; in terms of each symbolism. Indicate how we can relate each symbolism with the Hanfu culture.
- Talk about the general current issue regarding each symbolism. For instance; Virtue, Inner beauty, Integrity, Nobility. To prevent the emergence of politics.
- Express art and symbolism through mask and bags
- Dissect and explore different color palettes and make the design ideas more consistent.
- Self-esteem + Instagram culture; spread a message that is positive. Can be expressed in an art form, not necessarily words.
- A quote or poem on each symbolism.
- Some of our designs are inconsistent, we’ll need to finalize our color palettes and designs
Week 9
- Add full rationale to the slides and recap the shorter version of the rationale
- Explain how the Four Gentlemen are related to Hanfu and Include information about why Ms. Gong Pan Pan mentioned the Four Gentlemen
- Add in the mandalas to the mask designs, remove the flowers, maintain the line patterns of the mask and add in the original colored mandalas
- Add a new slide to explain the mandalas' symbolism and significance
- Make rationale for each design to describe what they represent
- The mandalas are interesting and distinctive
REFLECTION
Experience
Throughout the projects, working with my team members have been fun, we would make jokes sometimes to lift up the mood and they are all very reliable teammates. While working on our designs, they all gave feedbacks on what we should change in our designs and also appreciate them. Just when we finally thought we were finished, we were then given a challenge again because we needed to fix some of the designs and add more information even though it is H-1 till the day we present our slides.
Observations
I had a lot of fun when designing the bags and the poster elements, and while designing them I found many inspirations that make me keep going to design lots of different designs. Honestly, there were ups and downs when accomplishing the final project, we had to arrange a lot of meetings with long hours, we even needed to make a lot of amendments. But it all worked in the end.
Findings
I realized that all our designs need to have a specific meaning to them, so I need to come up with what exactly my design is about. I did a lot of brainstorming and eventually found the right meaning to it.
